Note: The name “Avant” draws from the Armenian word ավանդական (traditional). This collection celebrates classical motifs and cultural memory through signature rug designs — drawing inspiration from antique, Armenian, and tribal rug heritage across regions.

→ Blog Post Draft: At the crossroads of tradition and timeless design, the Yerevan Avant Projects represent Woolway Studios’ commitment to preserving—and reimagining—the rich language of antique and tribal rugs.

The name “Avant” is derived from the Armenian word ավանդական, meaning traditional. It symbolizes a commitment to tradition and reinterpretation. This series is rooted in the belief that tradition is not static; it evolves with care, curiosity, and craftsmanship. Each design draws from the deep well of Armenian, Anatolian, Caucasian, and other tribal rug motifs, weaving them into new expressions of heritage and place.

These are not reproductions. They are reverent reinterpretations — handwoven from naturally dyed, hand-spun wool, designed to honor ancient patterns while speaking to a new generation of collectors, designers, and dreamers.

Whether inspired by the city grid of old Yerevan, the geometry of sacred symbols, or the layered meanings found in nomadic textiles, each rug in the Avant series is a meditation in form, color, and memory.
