Before Woolway, there was Hayko Fine Rugs and Tapestries—a space where a life was devoted to the delicate art of antique rug restoration. It was there that a passion took form, where each repair became a quiet meditation on history, and where the true power of textiles was fully understood.
But Woolway was born from something deeper. A return to roots. A vision to not only restore the past, but to revive and reimagine the future of textile arts.
A Studio, a Philosophy
At Woolway Studios in Armenia, ancient traditions are carried forward—hand-spinning wool, dyeing with native plants, and weaving by hand—all while honoring sustainability, cultural heritage, and craftsmanship.
Every rug, every skein of yarn, every workshop is part of something larger: a movement to preserve and pass on the deep knowledge and soul embedded in traditional textile work.
“Woolway was born from the same passion as Hayko Fine Rugs, but became something more: a return to my roots, a revival of Armenian weaving traditions, and a commitment to sustainable craftsmanship. It is no longer just about restoration; it is about creation, education, and ensuring these traditions thrive for generations to come.”

What’s Happening at Woolway
- 🌿 Workshops & Residencies
We offer hands-on courses in weaving, natural dyeing, spinning, and antique rug restoration. These take place at our growing Woolway Art Center in Armenia, or as international/mobile workshops. Whether you’re a professional artist or simply curious, there’s a space for you here.
- 🎭 New Rug Collection: The Art of Armenian Storytelling
We’re developing a new series of rugs inspired by Armenian film and theatre—drawing visual language from stage silhouettes, old cinema houses, and symbolic storytelling elements. A collaboration of woven narratives.
- 🏡 Guesthouse Expansion
To welcome more artists and travelers, we’re adding three new rooms to our guesthouse. Whether you’re here to create, learn, or simply experience, Woolway is a place for slow beauty, connection, and inspiration.
- 🎨 Art Center & Exhibitions
Our newly established art center will host exhibitions, lectures, and textile-focused residencies. We invite local and international artists to explore the intersection of heritage and contemporary textile expression.
